University of Kentucky Multijurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan

The Center is working with UK and multiple stakeholders to create an enhanced mitigation plan. Together these partners are compiling a list of UK assets, evaluating the vulnerability of those assets and creating a matrix to mitigate possible threats and vulnerabilites.

The final goal of the UKMHMP is to create an enhanced hazard mitigation program and an increased level of disaster resistance for the University of Kentucky community. The project seeks to compile a comprehensive list of types and numbers of existing buildings, infrastructures, populations, and critical facilities that are vulnerable to the identified hazards thus enhancing the University's ability to provide cost-beneficial hazard mitigation activities as well as enhance any response activities.  The University of Kentucky is a major source of economic stability through out the State of Kentucky therefore completing a Hazard Mitigation Plan will not only benefit the University constituents it will benefit the entire population of Kentucky.

Deliverables include:

  • Developing a Planning Process

  • Completing a Risk Assessment

  • Developing Mitigation Strategies

  • Providing a Plan Maintenance Schedule
