Healthcare Vulnerability Assessment Project

Hospital preparedness during a disaster is crucial to responding to victims in a timely, efficient manner. The HVA seeks to maximize the availability and use of regional hospital assets throughout Louisville Metro by synthesizing current and past data and identifying areas for improvement.

The Center for Hazards Research and Policy Development at the University of Louisville (CHR) with the Center for Health Hazards Preparedness at the University of Louisville (CHHP) is working on a pilot Healthcare Vulnerability Assessment for ASPR Region 6, which includes the counties of Jefferson, Bullitt, Oldham, and Shelby.  The goals of this pilot project is to research and create the Healthcare Vulnerability Assessment (HVA) model for the region, bring the pilot group together and extract the local data from the members and, lastly, CHR will run scenarios on the HVA model using local data in order to interpret capacity shortfalls through out the regions healthcare facilities. The project will synthesize the current HVAs at each individual facility and provide a regional framework for Healthcare preparedness.
